Ice Mummy,
The discovery of a 5,000-year-old man. Mark Dubowski and Cathy East Dubowski are the authors of a book called ‘Ice Mummy’. Most mummies are found in a sarcophagus, but this one is not, this mummy was found in the icy Alps. Dr Henn took the mummy to his medical school. There the mummy started to rot, so they put him in a cold room. Dr Konrad Spindler examined the mummy; he studied the ax and a backpack, and a box with coals in it. Dr Spindler thinks the Ice mummy is over 4 000 years old. I liked the book about the Ice mummy. My favorite part of the book is when they put it in a cold room. Parent addition: Missing tidbits
A mysterious ‘dolls head’ that turns out to be a 4000-year-old mummy, what more could a budding anthropologist ask for! With engaging photographs and a interesting story of ‘what might have happened’ Cathy East Dubowski and Mark Dubowski pull the readers into a wonderful world of discovery. However further research of the Mummy turns up an interesting arrow head in the shoulder, a knife wound in the hand and his last meal. I am not sure why the authors left out those tidbits of information; perhaps they didn’t mesh with the idyllic ‘last day’ they had planned. All in all I would still recommend this book to an early reader so long as an adult is nearby to add some ‘might be’ and ‘they think’ plus hopefully a quick internet search for more information. |
